Researcher (Rtd-B) in Dynamic Psychology at the Department of Educational Sciences, where he teaches Dynamic Psychology in the Bachelor's Degree in Psychological Sciences and Techniques and Psychodynamic Clinical Psychology with Laboratory in the Master's Degree in Psychology. Previously, he was a researcher (Rtd-A) in Dynamic Psychology at the University for Foreigners "Dante Alighieri" in Reggio Calabria. He obtained the National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for Associate Professor in 2021 and for Full Professor in 2024 for the scientific-disciplinary sector M-PSI/07 Dynamic Psychology (SC 11/E4). He also earned a PhD in "Psychological Sciences (25th cycle)" and was a Research Fellow at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio. As an individual and group psychotherapist with a psychoanalytic orientation, he has worked for public and private entities in the training and supervision of multidisciplinary palliative care teams. He has also served as an external member of the Ethical Committee for Psychological Research at the Center for Psychological Research and Intervention (CeRIP) at the University of Messina. In addition to teaching Dynamic Psychology and Clinical Psychology in undergraduate and graduate programs, he has been a lecturer in Master's programs and specialization schools for psychologists, doctors, and other health professionals on topics related to helping relationships. He is currently a counselor for the Italian Society of Palliative Care – Sicily Region and a member of several scientific associations, including the Italian Psychological Association – Section of Clinical and Dynamic Psychology and the Society for Psychotherapy Research – Italy Area Group. He collaborates with various research groups in dynamic and clinical psychology affiliated with national and international universities. In particular, he was a Visiting Fellow at Teachers College and the Loss, Trauma, and Emotion Lab at Columbia University (NYC).
The themes of his research activities mainly focus on dynamic and clinical psychology. His current research interests include the relationship between attachment styles and adult psychopathology, psychotherapy research, psychological resilience and emotional regulation, and risk and protective factors in prolonged grief disorder.
