Learning Objectives
The course aims at providing the students with the fundamentals of psicolinguistics. At the end of the course, the students will be able to describe the processes involved in understanding and producing linguistic expressions both in oral and in written texts, at all levels of representation: phoneme, word, sentence. Therefore, the students will be provided with the basic general linguistics notions needed to describe the discrete elements making up a sentence. Students will also be provided with the basic knowledge relating to language acquisition, learning and usage, also wrt particular groups (aphasic, dyslexic, dysgraphic people), empirical research methods and theoretical models.

Experimental research on language. What is language. The lexicon. Introduction to phonetics and phonology, morphology and syntax. Words and the computational system. Language acquisition. Speech and reading disorders.
