Dr Valentina Lucia La Rosa is a postdoc research fellow at the Department of Education Sciences, University of Catania, as part of the project: "Learning and social interaction: behavioral, cognitive and social mechanisms in childhood" (SSD: M-PSI/04), responsible: Prof. Elena Commodari.
She obtained her PhD in January 2023 in "Educational processes, theoretical-transformative models and research methods applied to the territory" (SSD: M-PSI/04) at the Department of Educational Sciences, University of Catania, discussing a thesis entitled: "Developmental challenges, vulnerability, and resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic: Studies on psychological effects from adolescence to adulthood" (Tutor: Prof. Elena Commodari).
She graduated in Psychology on November 2011 from the Kore University of Enna with a final vote of 110/110 cum laude, discussing an experimental degree thesis entitled "Decisional processes in adolescence. The influence of the parenting process and the peer group on decision styles". In October 2012, she qualified for the profession of psychologist at the University of Messina, and since November of the same year, she has been registered with the Order of Psychologists of the Sicilian Region with the number 6491/A.
In October 2016, she specialized in psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy. In September 2019, she obtained a Master's in “Biostatistics for clinical research and scientific publication” at the University of Padua. Furthermore, she completed specialized training in psychodiagnostics and specific learning disorders.
She is an affiliate member of the Developmental and Educational Psychology Section of the Italian Psychological Association (AIP) and a member of the Developmental and Educational Psychology Sections of the American Psychological Association (APA). She is also a member of other leading international scientific societies in the field of developmental psychology, including the European Association for Developmental Psychology (EADP), the Society for Research on Adolescence (SRA), the Society for the Study of Emerging Adulthood (SSEA), and the Italian Society for Perinatal Mental Health - Italian Section of the International Marcé Society for Perinatal Mental Health.
She collaborates with several research groups nationally and internationally on developmental psychology topics, with a specific focus on the perinatal period and adolescent and young adult development.

Dr. La Rosa's research activity focuses on the origins, changes, and development of psychological processes in the life cycle. Specifically, her privileged research topics are social learning in childhood, prenatal and child development, adolescent and emerging adult development, attachment relationships, and emotional and relational factors involved in learning processes and educational contexts.
